Dana Difilippantonio is a prominent contemporary percussion performer and composer. He specializes in many different musical idioms and cross-genera classifications. Dana was born in Easton Pennsylvania July 22, 1983 where he was first enthralled by music through video games at the age of three. His love for video games has fueled his ambition to create music professionally throughout his career.
"I think my work has begun to cross-pollinate; my concert works often have clear pop influence, while my pop works generally contain a level of composition usually reserved for classical music, or the concert hall."
Dana has quickly become a notable young star in the percussion community. His first published work entitled Synthesis has reached a high level of acclaim and is now considered an essential tool for all percussionists.
Dana has a B.F.A. in Percussion Performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a M.M. in Percussion Performance from Louisiana State University.
Dana's musical influences include classical composers Bela Bartok, Dmitri Shostakovich, Nobuo Uematsu, Shoji Meguro, anime composers Samurai Champloo, Eureka Seven, Wolf's Rain, Mushishi, and the video game music from Demon's Souls (Current gen), Secret of Mana, and Chrono Trigger (old school).
